Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage wraps up season with big win

The Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage Varsity hockey team wrapped up the regular season in impressive fashion, defeating Carroll 8-3 in Euless on Thursday night.

Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage wrapped up the summer season with a 5-5 mark, while Carroll finished 4-6 on the season in the Varsity division.

It did not take the varsity squad long to get going, as Brandon Caressimo scored just 40 seconds into the match on assists from Christopher Rodo and Sam Yujuico.

Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage made it 2-0 just over two minutes later on an unassisted goal from Rodo, before Carroll answered with a Tyler Culp goal on assists from Cole Shannon and Jeff Rucci.

Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage extended the lead to 3-1 late in the first period on an Alec Monhollen goal, with assists from Dalton Caesar and Andrew Monhollen, and the team led by two after the first.

Caesar scored on power-play goal at the three minute mark of the second period to extend Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage's lead to 4-1 on an assist from Garrett Knutson.

With just over a minute to play in the second period, Joe Barnes scored on an assist from Louie Guarino to cut the Dragons deficit back to two and make it 4-2 heading into the third.

Christopher Rodo and Andrew Monhollen both scored within 30 seconds early in the third to make it 6-2 Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage on assists from Andrew Monhollen (on Rodo) and Caesar.

Carroll scored on a goal from Tyler Hamilton at the 3:08 mark on asssists from Culp and Rucci.

Knutson came right back and scored on an assist from Spencer Stuckeman and Caressimo and Thomas Demers scored on a power-play goal to put it away for the varsity team.

Scotty Edwards picked up the assist on the Demers goal.

Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage out shot Carroll 37-18 in the contest.

Carroll JV Defeats Mid Cities

The Carroll JV hockey team rallied from a 1-0 deficit on Sunday night to defeat Mid Cities 2-1 to improve to 7-3 on the summer season.

Mid Cities struck first in the game and took a 1-0 lead into the second period of the game.

In the second period, it was all Carroll, as Nick Hughes scored at the 9:16 mark of the period on assists from Cole Shannon and James Gibson, and followed that up 36 seconds later on a goal from Ben Hagedorn, with Scott Joy and Kelli Doll assists.

Lucas Brolley stopped 15 of 16 shots on goal in the game for the Dragons.
