You still have time to sock it to former President George H. W. Bush.

In honor of his 90th birthday this year, his presidential library foundation has invited supporters to design a sock for him.

Be daring, be bold.

Because the judge will be the all-time connoisseur of perhaps the world’s most unique sock selection: Bush himself.

And the winning socks will be displayed at his presidential library in College Station.

Don’t take too long, though. The deadline is Aug. 31.

‘Tremendous patriotism’

Sgt. William Moody will not be forgotten.

From now on, a Burleson post office will bear the name of the hometown hero who was killed by enemy fire while serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan near the end of his second deployment in 2013.

U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin, introduced a bill to designate the post office in Burleson as the Sergeant William Moody Post Office Building — a measure recently signed into law by President Barack Obama.

“I am proud to know this facility will forever stand as a reminder that our freedom is not free,” Williams said. “It was paid for by the sacrifice of thousands of men and women like Sgt. William Moody who have put service before self.

“This dedication will serve as a lasting testament to the tremendous patriotism shared by our community.”
