Man killed in stolen van crash identified

A man killed in an Arlington crash Friday night as he fled from Kennedale police in a stolen van has been identified as Jerald Bruton, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website said Sunday.

Bruton, 58, died at an Arlington hospital Friday night shortly after the accident, the medical examiner’s office reported. Authorities did not have a hometown listed for him.

The crash occurred about 9 p.m. Friday on Interstate 20 just west of U.S. 287 in Arlington.

The van driver was trying to drive across a grassy median separating the I-20 main lanes from the service road when the vehicle hit a concrete culvert, Arlington police said.

The van was reported stolen in Fort Worth on Wednesday, police said.

An investigation by Arlington and Kennedale police continued Sunday.
