I do not pledge to God, but rather to the Constitution, as do all American citizens. (“Speech and religion,” Gil Ginn letter, Wednesday, July 2).

My currency is a debit card with a picture of my dog on it, not the words “In God we trust.”

I have heard this so many times: “If you don’t like it you can leave,” which seems to intimate that you are somehow in charge of the rules and regulations under which I am “allowed” to be here.

As a U.S. citizen, I am free to believe or not believe as my conscience deems fit, not yours.

Long Live America!
