The eulogy to political cartoonist Etta Hulme was an endearing tribute. (“Beloved cartoonist Hulme dies,” Friday.)

As a trailblazer for women cartoonists, she and columnist Molly Ivins were an exacta combo.

Etta’s cartoons may have provoked some, but that was the intent — to get folks to think and talk about her message beyond the satire.

She leaves an indelible mark on everyone who read the newspaper and appreciated her cartoons.
