Court appearance The Mavericks wanted to make some noise in the off-season and they have. Here are some other issues of interest:

1Make a trade

The Mavericks reached an agreement on a trade with New York for center Tyson Chandler and guard Raymon Felton. In return, they shipped Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Shane Larkin, Wayne Ellington and both second-round draft picks in tonight’s draft.

2Chase Carmelo

The acquisition of Chandler could help the Mavericks pursue free-agent small forward Carmelo Anthony, who was a teammate of Chandler’s in New York over the past three years. Anthony is expected to visit Dallas sometime during free agency, which starts Tuesday.

3Keep Dirk

Although a new contract hasn’t been negotiated yet, Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks are jointly saying all the right things in public and in private. The 16-time All-Star said he’ll never play for another NBA franchise. — Dwain Price
