The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with free-agent guard Uche Nwaneri.

The team has yet to make the deal official as it must release a player to make room on the 90-man roster for the former Jacksonville Jaguar.

The Cowboys report to training camp on July 22. The first day of full workouts is July 24.

Nwaneri, 30, a graduate of Garland’s Naaman Forest High School, tweeted the news today, saying he is coming home. He included an Instagram picture of the Cowboys logo.

Per a source, Nwaneri will sign a one-year deal with the Cowboys for the veteran minimum.

A six-year starter in Jacksonville, Nwaneri started all but five games in that span. He was cut in March in a salary cap move. With the Cowboys, he will compete for the starting spot at left guard with Ronald Leary and Mackenzie Bernadeau.

His presence will strengthen an already solid offensive line that features three first-round picks, including 2014 top pick Zack Martin. Martin was a walk-in starter at Bernadeau’s previous right guard spot.

Bernadeau was moved to left guard to compete with Leary, who graded the lowest out of all five starters last year.

Briefly

• Chargers: Cornerback Brandon Flowers, released earlier this month by the Chiefs, agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract that has $2 million more available in incentives.

• Jaguars: Rookie receiver Allen Robinson of Penn State signed a four-year, $3.5 million contract after being the 61st overall selection.

• Browns: Rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel was “drafted” by the Harlem Globetrotters as part of their eighth annual selection of world class athletes. They also selected U.S. soccer star Landon Donovan.
