Carlos Pena joins Rangers

Carlos Pena is set to become the latest first baseman for the Texas Rangers.

The team called up the veteran who hasn’t played in the big leagues this season on Tuesday, designating Brad Snyder for assignment.

Pena, 36, batted .333 with one home run in six games at Triple A Round Rock.
