Bail was set Thursday at $110,000 for a 38-year-old driver jailed Tuesday night after hers and another woman’s children fell from a moving car they had been allowed to ride atop because their bathing suits were wet.

Kisha Young, 38, was arraigned Thursday morning by Crowley Municipal Judge Darla Peevey on charges including intoxication assault with a vehicle/serious bodily injury, injury to a child with serious bodily injury and driving while intoxicated with a child under age 15, according to Crowley police.

She remained in the Crowley jail Thursday morning.

The incident occurred Tuesday night as Young and another woman left the Creekside of Crowley community pool with their children .

Police say that because their bathing suits were wet, the women’s six children — ages 8 to 14 — were allowed to ride on the hood and trunk of the car. Four of the children on the Chevy Malibu’s trunk fell off in the 400 block of Angler Drive, including the passenger’s 12-year-old daughter, who remained hospitalized Thursday with a severe head injury.

Police have said driver inattention and the influence of alcohol are possible factors in the incident.

Young was arrested at the scene on suspicion of intoxication assault after failing a field sobriety test, police said.

The passenger had not been arrested as of Thursday morning but police have said both mothers faces charges in the case.

Child Protective Services is also investigating.
