Felix Hernandez will make his 42nd career start against the Rangers on Friday, the most by any opposing pitcher in Rangers history. Hernandez had been tied Jack Morris.

Hernandez is 12-20 with a 4.11 ERA in his career against the Rangers and is winless in two starts this season. The 20 losses to the Rangers are his most against any team. But he’s one of the hottest pitchers going, at 8-1 with a 2.39 this season. He’s the reigning American League Player of the Week, and he hasn’t allowed a homer in his past nine starts.

The Rangers, meanwhile, have the second-fewest homers (44) in the AL.
