Fort Worth Vaqueros FC faces a daunting task Saturday night if it wants to win the Trinity River Cup.

The Vaqueros, down by a two-goal differential after the 2-0 loss May 29, travel east to Dallas City FC’s home field for the second leg. The Vaqueros outshot Dallas 11-7 and enjoyed a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

FC must win by at least two goals to force penalty kicks. A three-goal win earns the cup outright.

“I feel the team played well in the first leg in spite of being a man down for 38 minutes,” Vaqueros coach Mark Snell said. “Dallas City’s second goal came in the 90th minute, which is disappointing as it could be decisive in the second leg on Saturday.

“We are confident and know we need to score at least two goals. We will play our normal game and attack for 90 minutes. Based on Leg 1 this will be an exciting match.”

Fort Worth resumes conference play in the National Premier Soccer League on June 15 at Dallas City FC.
