The 2014 Cliburn Gala took place May 2 at Ridglea Country Club. To fit the art deco “Classically Cliburn” theme, the country club was decorated with black and white decor and linens. Before dinner, a “flash mob” of six pianists, including two Cliburn competition gold medalists, played a rousing Stars and Stripes Forever. Guests dined on beef tenderloin, poached salmon and a cake in the shape of piano keyboards created specially for the event. After dancing to Big Blast and the Party Masters, patrons gathered on the patio for hand-rolled cigars and port.
