When a power outlet started sliding down a wall in the women’s restroom, it caught the attention of the manager of the Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Store in Grapevine.

Turns out, it wasn’t a power outlet. It was a camera stuck to the wall with double-sided tape.

“It isn’t a video camera,” said Grapevine police spokesman Sgt. Robert Eberling. “It takes still images similar to a deer camera. It has some kind of proximity sensor.”

Now Grapevine police are looking for a man who was caught on the store’s own surveillance cameras entering and leaving the store at 1300 S. Main St. about 9:30 a.m. May 23.

Though Eberling wasn’t sure how long the camera had been in the public restroom, a store employee said it was there about three hours before it was discovered and turned over to police.

Of a handful of images in the camera’s memory, two are of the man police believe placed the device in the restroom, Eberling said.
