The 11th hole was the crown jewel of Kevin Chappell’s big moving day Saturday, when he put his third shot into the cup from the front-right bunker for eagle.

Three of the four players sharing the third-round lead above Chappell birdied the 615-yard par 5, helping rank the hole as the second easiest of the round.

Co-leaders Hideki Matsuyama, David Toms and Chad Campbell each birdied No. 11.

The hole yielded 35 birdies, but Chappell’s hole-out from the sand was the only eagle of the day.

It wasn’t a piece of cake for everyone, however, as four players bogeyed the long par 5.

While the world’s top-ranked golfer, Adam Scott, made par at the hole, he said it was the beginning of a slight downward trend in his game as he finished his third round.

“I had an opportunity to get it up and down on the green and try for birdie, and I didn't,” he said.

“Even though it's still a par, it's almost like giving one away there. If you don't pick up one in the next couple holes, your momentum's gone.”

Players took advantage of the excellent course conditions Saturday, especially on 11, which held a 4.560 scoring average for Round 3, down from 4.935 after Round 2.
