A 22-year-old Burleson woman died after a four-wheeler on which she was a passenger crashed into a tree Friday night, authorities said.

The accident happened at 7:21 p.m. on Weatherby Road, 1.5 miles south of Burleson in Johnson County, said trooper Dub Gillum, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The passenger, Ashley McCurdy, 22, was transported to Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South, where she later died of head and neck injuries, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

The driver, 20-year-old Suzanne Patterson, was sent to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth with serious but non-incapacitating injuries, Gillum said.

The death was ruled an accident. Gillum said neither rider was wearing a helmet.
