A 50-year-old Arkansas man drowned Saturday evening in Lake Worth, Fire Department officials said.

Donald Kell of Searcy, Ark., was at the lake with family and friends when he went out to reset a fishing line in a rented kayak. When he was about 400 feet from shore, he fell out of the boat, fire officials said.

A family friend tried swim out to help but was not able to reach Kell. The Fire Department was dispatched at about 5:30 p.m. and the dive team recovered the body at 6:30 p.m., after about 15 minutes of searching, officials said.

The dive team had difficulty due to limited visibility, and divers initially were tangled in fishing line, officials said. Kell was found in about 8 feet of water, officials said. — Patrick M. Walker
