The Cleburne Yellow Jackets used a seven-run third inning Thursday to coast to a 10-2 victory against Trophy Club Nelson in Game 1 of a best-of-three Class 4A regional quarterfinal series Thursday at Fort Worth Arlington Heights.Cleburne, ranked No. 1 in the latest Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association poll, faced its first deficit of the postseason when the Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. With two outs, Nelson put two runners on base via back-to-back Cleburne errors. Bobby Jones and Briton Schiewe recorded back-to-back RBI hits for the 2-0 lead.The Jackets (27-3-1) responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Dylan Schneider and Daniel Richardson put runners on first and second with a hit-by-pitch and walk, respectively.After a Tyler Anderson sacrifice bunt advanced the runners, designated hitter Logan Runyon tied the game with a two-run double.In the third inning, Cleburne rallied for seven runs, highlighted by a three-run homer by junior Tyler Fowler. Stevan Martinez added a two-run single later in the inning to cap the rally.Schneider (11-1) gave up two unearned runs on four hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out three. Schneider pitched complete game shutouts in the Jackets’ first two playoff games against Fort Worth Trimble Tech and Denton Guyer.Seven players scored a run for the Jackets, and three had multi-hit games, led by Richardson, who was 3 for 3 with a walk, and Martinez, who was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Runyon went 2 for 2 with three RBIs.Tanner Mitchell went 1 for 2 with a walk to lead the Bobcats (19-15-1).Game 2 is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Arlington Heights.
