Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial-related activities begin on Sunday — a full week before the champion is crowned after the final round on May 25.

Tournament-related activities will begin with the Nike Youth Golf Day on Sunday (2-4 p.m.), with fans entering through the new course entrance at Frost Park. PGA Tour pro Chris Williams is hosting the free youth clinic at the Colonial driving range.

The first 500 kids will receive a goody bag and all youth ages 13-17 will receive a free one-day tournament ticket for the weekend (youth 12 and under attend the tournament free on any day).

A free shuttle from Farrington Field, located at University Drive and Lancaster, is provided for the event.

Later that night, the Ben Hogan Award will be announced in a live ceremony at Colonial Country Club. The recipient, recognized as the top player in college golf, will receive a sponsor’s exemption to compete in next year’s tournament.

Next Wednesday, May 21, Tommy Thayer, lead guitarist for the rock band KISS, will take part in the pro-am. Fans who wear KISS makeup to the course that day are eligible to receive Champions Club badges when spotted by Colonial’s social media caddies on the course. For more information, visit facebook.com/Colonial.

Also next week, the Frost Park concert series will be held at the new Frost Park.

Admission is free.

The lineup includes Pardi Gras on Thursday, Reckless Kelly on Friday and Old 97’s on Saturday. There will be a warmup band at 7 each night followed by the headliners.

Latest commitments

Seung Yul-Noh, winner of last month’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans, is among the latest group of golfers to commit to play in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, May 19-25 in Fort Worth. Noh, 22, became the fifth golfer from South Korea to win a PGA Tour event when he prevailed April 27 in New Orleans.

Also among the latest crop of Colonial commitments are Andrew Svoboda, Robert Streb, John Merrick and Scott Langley. Svoboda and Streb were the runner-ups to Noh in New Orleans, finishing two strokes off the pace.
