More than 80 percent of those who have signed up for insurance under the ACA have paid their first month premium (“Health insurers: Payment rates about 80 percent,” May 8) .

Apparently some Democrats call this success.

The article said some Republicans still ask whether rates will go up in 2015, and how much. Also, how many of those who signed up were previously uninsured?

Those are definitely good questions.

But these questions are better:

How many are receiving government subsidies?

How much of the premium do they pay, and how much does the subsidy pay?

And how much will fall onto the taxpayers’ shoulders if the goverment can’t pay it?
