TCU has handled every obstacle thrown its way while winning 12 consecutive games and 19 of its past 20 games.

To keep their roll going, however, the Horned Frogs (34-13, 13-5 in the Big 12) have to go through a team that has given them fits for a decade.

Oklahoma comes to Lupton Stadium for a three-game series, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The Sooners have beaten the Frogs the past four games, including a nonconference meeting in Norman, Okla. earlier this season 9-5. Since 2004, TCU is 6-18 against Oklahoma.

TCU left-hander Brandon Finnegan is expected to return to the mound after missing last week’s start with minor shoulder soreness in his throwing arm.

The Sooners (26-23, 6-12 Big 12) are struggling this year with first-year coach Pete Hughes, who took over for Sunny Golloway.

Golloway left for Auburn after the team won the Big 12 tournament and reached the NCAA Super Regionals in 2013.

Oklahoma has lost seven of its past eight and is 3-13 since April 8.

Pitching has been an issue for the Sooners, who are second-to-last in the Big 12 with a 4.23 team ERA with a league-high 24 home runs allowed. They’ve also struggled defensively, tied with Baylor with a league-leading 75 errors.

The 19th-ranked Frogs have seven regular-season games remaining, including a nonconference home game on Tuesday against UT Arlington and a Big 12 series finale at Baylor on May 15-17.

Although TCU’s postseason bid appears to be a given, there’s still plenty to play for, including nailing down a hosting spot in the NCAA Regionals and hoping to earn its first national seed (the top eight teams get to host a Super Regional if they advance).

A strong finish to the regular season could ensure the Frogs get what they want.

And an old foe stands in their way.
