It is not necessary to add tolls to keep our highways safe and well maintained.

Texas should be using its share of the gasoline tax for highway maintenance instead of placing it in the General Fund; and Congress could gain billions of tax revenue every year by not giving the oil companies $4 billion and by simply closing the thousands of loopholes which allow over sixty of American corporations to pay zero income taxes!

If the U.S. Supreme Court thinks corporations are “individuals” and should be entitled to make unlimited contributions to candidates, then corporations should pay their fair share of income taxes like the rest of us.

I doubt if the average American knows that congressmen have added over 17,000 pages in the IRS tax code. They do this to compensate their corporate and rich backers in order to have substantial campaign chests.

So, what can an average Americans do to take our government back?

The answer is simple, my friends — don’t vote for any politician who has served more than two terms. Simple.

— Edward Lindsay, Fort Worth
