A 57-year-old Fort Worth man died Friday afternoon from injuries suffered in an auto-pedestrian accident Thursday in Keller.

Robert Lariz-Trinidad was struck by a large truck backing up on Apeldoorn Lane near Johnson Road Park, Keller police Capt. Brenda Slovak said Saturday. Lariz-Trinidad was working on landscaping at the Evergreen Senior Living apartments and crossed the street with a wheelbarrow of grass when he was hit.

He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he underwent surgery.

Slovak said the driver did not see Lariz-Trinidad behind him and ended up knocking the man backward.

“Unfortunately he fell back and hit his head but never recovered,” Slovak said.

Lariz-Trinidad died shortly before 2:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Slovak said the truck driver would not face charges in the accident.
