ARLINGTON — Richland ace Brandon Maine and his teammates got the better of Arlington in a 10-0 victory in five innings in Game 2 of a Class 5A bi-district series on Friday night at Arlington High.Maine was a big reason for Richland’s strong showing. He pitched 4 2/3 no-hit innings and struck out eight. He also drove in three runs at the plate.Game 3 in the best-of-three series is at 1 p.m. Saturday at QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie. Arlington (21-9) won Game 1 4-3 at Richland on Thursday.“Got to pitch my team to the next round,” Maine said of his mindset entering Game 2.Maine pitched with the lead the entire night after Richland pounced on Arlington’s pitchers in the top of the first.Colts starter Tanner McCaskey (6-3) lasted just 1/3 of an inning, surrendering five runs on three hits and two walks. Maine bashed a two-run single with no outs to open the scoring.Ryan Ward reached home on a fielder’s choice for a 3-0 advantage. Designated hitter Ivan Maysonet swatted a double down the right-field line to plate two more runs.Arlington used three pitchers in the opening frame as Richland batted around in the inning.The Rebels (24-9) added to the lead in the top of the third. A sacrifice fly by Rickey Perez added a run. Maysonet then scored on a two-out error for a 7-0 lead.The lead was extended to 8-0 in the top of the fifth when Maine walked with the bases loaded. Two more runs came home on an error to make the score 10-0. The game was called after five because of Richland’s 10-run lead.Maine (9-2) picked up the first two outs of the bottom of the fifth and was relieved with a runner on first. Ward got the last out.
