Shin-Soo Choo is back in the Texas Rangers’ lineup on Tuesday for the first time since April 21 after his sprained left ankle improved enough after missing six straight games.

But manager Ron Washington has Choo as the designated hitter rather than in left field. Michael Choice is back there for the seventh straight game, but he drops from first in the order to sixth. As Washington promised Friday, Adrian Beltre is batting third against a left-handed pitcher and Prince Fielder is the cleanup hitter.

Choo, though a left-handed hitter, as the highest average among his teammates against Oakland lefty Scott Kazmir. Choo has a .308 career average (4 for 13) with a homer. Alex Rios has 43 at-bats against Kazmir, but has only nine hits (.209 average).
