The streaking UT Arlington baseball team has a chance to finally get above .500 over the next week as it hits the weakest part of its schedule.

The Mavericks host two area teams before embarking on their last true road trip this weekend. They’ll play Texas Wesleyan at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Arlington Baptist at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Coming off their fourth series victory in five weekends, the Mavericks sit in the middle of the Sun Belt Conference standings with a trip to last-place Arkansas-Little Rock next.

Bolstered by an opportunistic lineup, the Mavericks have scored five or more runs in seven consecutive games. Eric Tate’s strong April has him leading all batters with a .378 average.

Texas Wesleyan has been able to get runners on base, but scoring runs has proved more difficult. Despite collecting 77 more hits than its opponents, Wesleyan has a run differential of minus-33 in conference play.

Arlington Baptist next heads to the National Christian College Athletic Association regional tournament in Edmond, Okla.
