UT Arlington was in position for a trip to the NCAA Regional halfway through the final round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Wednesday in Saucier, Miss., but slipped to third place by the finish.

The Mavs led at the turn at Grand Bear Golf Course, but finished 1 over, two strokes behind Georgia State, which claimed the conference title. South Alabama shot an 8 under in the final round and edged UTA for second.

Joss Gosling finished eighth at 1 under to lead UTA, one spot ahead of teammate Brad Mason, who shot a 2-under 70 in the third round and finished at even par.
