Mavericks at Spurs

7 p.m. Wednesday, AT&T Center, San Antonio

TV: KTXA/21, NBA TV

Radio: ESPN/103.3 FM, KFLC/1270 AM (Spanish)

Series: Spurs lead 1-0

About the Mavs: They have to put the bad memories aside, but the Mavs must be still kicking themselves for letting the momentum and Game 1 slip away from them in Sunday’s series opener. Dallas led 81-71 with 7:45 remaining following a three-point play by Brandan Wright. But it was all downhill from there as the Mavs went 1 of 13 from the field and were outscored 19-4 the rest of the game. ... Reserve guard Devin Harris led the Mavs in Game 1 with 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting. But Harris likely won’t be replacing Jose Calderon in the starting lineup. However, if Calderon flounders, Harris could duplicate what he did in Game 1 when he played 32 minutes to just 16 for Calderon. ... The Mavs, who have lost 10 consecutive games to the Spurs, hope their top two players can locate their shooting touch. Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis were each 4 of 14 from the field with 11 points in Game 1.

About the Spurs: The Spurs managed to escape with a victory Sunday, but know they’ll have to play better in order to take a 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven series. In particular, the Spurs must get more scoring from their bench. Besides the 17 points Manu Ginobili scored, the Spurs got just six points from their reserves on 3-of-16 shooting. The Spurs’ bench was outscored by the Mavs’ 46-23. ... San Antonio would love to be able to crank it up from the 3-point line. In the series opener they were just 3 of 17 from 3-point range. That was unacceptable by San Antonio standards, especially because the Spurs led the NBA in 3-point shooting this year at 39.7 percent, while the Mavs were 15th in 3-point defense at 35.9 percent. ... After the Mavs chased the Spurs off the 3-point line in Game 1, the Spurs performed a layup drill. The Spurs outscored the Mavs in the paint 56-32, with Tim Duncan scoring 27 points.
