One man was killed and another wounded in a late-night shooting in Arlington’s Marti Van Ravenswaay Park, an official said.

Two men were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds after police responded to a shooting around midnight in the 4600 block of Bowman Springs Road, said Arlington police Lt. Christopher Cook.

Brince Shaw, 21, died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner.

A fight between two groups in another city may have led to the shooting, said Arlington police spokeswoman Zhivonni McDonnell.

“It is believed that the victims and the suspect agreed to meet at the park,” McDonnell said. “The suspect fired a gun on the group striking the two men.”

The suspect’s vehicle is a dark-colored 4-door passenger car, McDonnell said.

“This is an ongoing investigation and detectives are speaking with witnesses and trying to identify the suspect,” McDonnell said. “According to preliminary information gathered, this incident does not appear to have been a random act.”

Police asked that anyone with information about the shooting call 817 459-TIPS (8477).
