Former Texas A&M quarterback Matt Joeckel announced on the Internet on Thursday night his plans to transfer to TCU.

Joeckel, who wrote “I am now TCU Horned Frog. Go Frogs!” on the social networking site Twitter, graduated from A&M in December.

TCU could not confirm his transfer because he hasn’t officially signed with the school. Joeckel’s comment to approximately 2,770 Twitter followers can be viewed as a verbal commitment to TCU.

Joeckel graduated from Arlington High School and served as Johnny Manziel’s primary backup at A&M the last two seasons. He told the Star-Telegram last fall that if he chose to transfer after graduating, he’d prefer to go to a team where he’d play. TCU is in need of a quarterback with last year’s starter Casey Pachall graduating and Tyler Matthews announcing his plans to transfer.

Matt’s older sister Sarah played volleyball at TCU from 2008-11.
