Repaying old debts

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it unbelievable that our Treasury Department is seizing tax refunds to repay “old debts”? (See: “Social Security halts effort to collect old debts”)

When I first read this article I thought, “this is an April Fool’s joke.”

I find it incredible that “your” federal government is stealing tax refunds from the children of certain taxpayers to repay debts that in one case is 37-years-old.

Why did they wait 37 years before coming after the money? Are they even sure what amount, if any, is actually owed?

Why are they just seizing one daughter’s refund. She has siblings. Why are they not seizing their refunds?

This is the same government that wastes and overspends the taxpayer money every day of every year.

If you didn’t happen to read this article, please go find it. I’m sure you will be just as shocked as I was.

What a country we live in.
