FORT WORTH — A Tarrant County jury took 30 minutes Thursday to convict a Fort Worth man of an aggravated sexual assault that occurred 10 years ago.Charles Anthony Green, 56, elected to have a judge assess punishment. A sentencing date was not set. Green could be sentenced to life in prison.Green was identified as a suspect in 2011 after DNA recovered after the rape was put into a law enforcement database. The woman, who was referred to during the trial by a pseudonym, Dawn Johnson, testified on Wednesday that Green approached her as she was leaving a Pantego auto parts store in the 2200 block of West Pioneer Parkway about 3 p.m. Feb. 12, 2004.Johnson said Green grabbed her from behind, stuck a gun in her ribs and forced her into the passenger seat of her white, 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Green, who also used the name Charles Nathan Larry, was 46. The woman was 19.Green took Johnson’s car keys and drove around, and then placed a wool cap over Johnson’s eyes so she could not see where he was going. Johnson said she believes Green parked her car in an alley in the Meadowbrook area, and that he made her undress and touch herself and then sexually assaulted her.“I did not try to fight him because I thought I was dead,” Johnson testified.Green’s criminal record, going back to 1996, includes convictions for assault, possession of a controlled substance and theft, according to Tarrant County district clerk records.
