About the Spurs: San Antonio comes to town with the NBA’s best record, best road record (29-10) and best record against Western Conference foes (36-12). ... The Spurs recently won a franchise-record 19 games in a row, including a 16-0 record in March. ... But they have lost two of their past three games, including Tuesday’s 110-91 loss at Minnesota after trailing 54-34 at halftime. It was the lowest scoring half of the season for the Spurs. “[The Timberwolves] basically forced us to lay an egg,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. ... Tony Parker will not play Thursday because of back spasms. Manu Ginobili suffered a left calf contusion against Minnesota, but might play.

About the Mavs: Dallas is coming off a sweep of its four-game road trip. ... Any combination of Mavs victories and Memphis Grizzlies losses that equal two will clinch a playoff berth for Dallas. ... Dirk Nowitzki comes home to a hero’s welcome and will receive a standing ovation after passing Oscar Robertson on Tuesday to become the NBA’s No. 10 all-time leading scorer. ... The Mavs are 0-3 against the Spurs this season and have lost the last eight meetings, dating to March 2012. — Dwain Price
