Former Plano East coach Randy Jackson was named the new football coach at Grapevine on Monday, the Grapevine-Colleyville school district announced.

Jackson went 5-5 in his first season at Plano East last year. He spent three seasons before that at Mesquite Poteet.

Dave Henigan resigned from Grapevine in February to take the head coaching job at Denton Ryan.

Grapevine will play in Class 5A this fall after dropping to the UIL’s second-biggest classification for the 2014-16 realignment.

Jackson is 119-51 in 14 seasons as a head coach.

GCISD still has an head football coach opening to fill at Colleyville Heritage, where Mike Fuller left for Decatur last month.
