About the Mavs: Dallas, which played late Thursday in LA against the Clippers, has a chance to run the table on the rest of this four-game road trip starting Friday against the three worst teams in the Western Conference. The Mavs also play at Sacramento (27-48) on Sunday and at Utah (23-52) on Tuesday. ... The Mavs are 2-0 against the Lakers this season, with both games in Dallas. ... Monta Ellis had 30 points and nine assists, and Jae Crowder added 18 points in 24 minutes during the Mavs’ 123-104 victory on Nov. 5. The Lakers’ starting five scored just 32 points. ... Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points and Vince Carter added 19 as the Mavs dumped the Lakers 110-97 on Jan. 7.

About the Lakers: In what has become one of the worst seasons in Lakers history, LA has lost 11 of its last 15 games. LA lost 107-102 Wednesday at Sacramento as Jodie Meeks led the Lakers with 21 points and Nick Young added 17. ... Steve Nash (ankle), Chris Kaman (calf) and Pau Gasol (vertigo) did not play against the Kings. Nash and Gasol are questionable for Friday. ... With the injured Kobe Bryant not available to save them, the Lakers are only 14-23 at home and are next-to-last in the West. ... The Lakers are averaging 102.7 points per game but are next-to-last in points allowed (108.9 ppg). The Lakers are 23rd in rebounding (41.3 rpg).  — Dwain Price
