A video scoreboard will become part of football games in Keller ISD Stadium next fall.At the March 27 board meeting, Keller trustees unanimously approved the purchase of a $425,000 video scoreboard with cameras and control room equipment from TS Sports of Dallas.Bob DeJonge, athletic director, said that the district rated proposals from four companies, and TS Sports had the best bid. TS Sports has installed light emitting diode (LED) video boards in American Airlines Center, Moody Coliseum at Southern Methodist University and Amon G. Carter Stadium at Texas Christian University.Keller district athletic department officials found six sponsors to pay $10,000 each for the next ten years to pay for the board, maintenance and production costs. In exchange for their donation, the companies receive permanent signs around the scoreboard and approved video and scrolling announcements during games. The sponsors are David Hall State Farm Insurance, Dermatology Alliance-Keller, Freeman Buick of Grapevine, Miller Orthodontics, Orlando Roofing and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital at Alliance. The board will be about 24 feet by 15 feet and will be flanked by five-by-eight foot signs for the sponsors.Students in advanced video production courses are expected to staff the control booth where they operate cameras, screen footage, edit and show replays and clips. Students in audio-visual classes can also produce content for short public service announcements, interviews and features on school achievements.
