A would-be bank robber walked away empty-handed from a Mansfield bank Thursday.

The suspect, who is described as a 5-foot-10 black male with a thin build, walked into American National Bank and demanded money Thursday morning, according to a report from the Mansfield police.

The man was wearing a stocking over his head with a baseball cap when he approached the teller line, the report said. The suspect had his hand in the pocket of the jacket, leading the teller to believe he had a weapon, but no weapon was shown.

After demanding money, the suspect fled on foot without any money. Police, who received a 911 call at approximately 11:30 a.m. Thursday, searched the area, but could not locate the suspect.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Mansfield police at (817) 473-0211 or anonymously at (817) 276-4750.
