TCU baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle hopes his team is resuming Big 12 play with more offensive options available.

Jerrick Suiter and Garrett Crain are expected to be available this weekend for the Horned Frogs (14-10, 1-2 Big 12) in a three-game series at Oklahoma State (17-8, 1-2) at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.

Both Suiter and Crain have been out with injuries, and TCU’s offense has missed their run-producing bats.

Suiter entered Tuesday’s game as a pinch hitter and played first base, the seventh position he’s played for the Frogs. The only positions Suiter hasn’t played for TCU are shortstop and second base.

Finding a place for Suiter in the lineup is another question. Kevin Cron continues to be unable to play the field because of an injured elbow, so he is filling in as the designated hitter.

“It’s really good news,” Schlossnagle said. “Hopefully, we’ll go into the weekend as healthy as we’ve been in a couple weeks.”

The offensive options might be opening up, but the bullpen has been strained by the strained shoulder of left-hander Ryan Burnett. The freshman hasn’t allowed an earned run in 8 1/3 innings of relief work, but left Saturday’s game with the injury. His return date is subject to MRI results.

He won’t be available for TCU’s important series this weekend, one the Frogs would love to win after opening Big 12 play losing two of three to Texas Tech last weekend.

“It’s huge for us, especially for RPI reasons,” outfielder Dylan Fitzgerald said. “We need to win the series.”
