Catcher Geovany Soto left Sunday’s game with a sore right knee, as an odd scene unfolded during the second inning. Soto grabbed his right leg and needed help standing up.

He initially began limping back towards the dugout but walked to the clubhouse normally. The Rangers sent him for a precautionary MRI exam and results weren’t known immediately.

Assistant general manager Thad Levine said it was encouraging to see Soto walk to the clubhouse with no issues, saying: “Hopefully Geovany is OK.”

Manager Ron Washington witnessed the scene and said Soto wasn’t in pain, just couldn’t move his leg at the time.

“We lifted him up and it released,” Washington said. “He was fine, but we weren’t sending him back behind the plate. We’ve just got to see [what the MRI shows].”

Soto missed the first half of camp after undergoing surgery to remove a small bone in his left foot, but has been expected to be in the Opening Day lineup.

Briefly

• Adam Rosales committed his first official error of the spring Sunday and has not had a good camp in Washington’s mind. Josh Wilson remains the favorite to win the utility infielder job.

• The starters for the final three Cactus League games will be left-hander Ryan Feierabend today, Robbie Ross on Tuesday and Colby Lewis on Wednesday. Tanner Scheppers is tentatively scheduled to throw Thursday’s exhibition game against the Quintana Roo Tigers at Globe Life Park.

• Leftfielder Shin-Soo Choo returned to the field Sunday for the first time since March 12. He has been dealing with left elbow soreness, something he says happens most springs.
