Nets at Mavericks

6:30 p.m. Sunday, American Airlines Center, Dallas

Radio: ESPN/103.3 FM, KFLC/1270 AM (Spanish)

Records: Nets 36-31; Mavs 42-28

About the Nets: Jason Kidd celebrates his 41st birthday by returning to Dallas for the first time — as an NBA head coach. Kidd is in his first season with the Nets, who are 26-10 since Jan. 1. ... The Nets have won 10 of their last 12. ... Brooklyn is the fifth seed in the East, but is tied with fourth-seeded Chicago in the loss column and trails third-seeded Toronto by just one game in the loss column. ... Joe Johnson scored 27 points and was 6 of 8 from 3-point range during Friday’s 114-98 victory over Boston. Johnson averages 15.4 ppg, while point guard Deron Williams, a native of The Colony, is averaging 14.4 ppg and 6.4 apg. The Nets also lean on Paul Pierce, who is averaging 13.4 ppg.

About the Mavs: In a must-win situation, the Mavs defeated Denver 122-106 on Friday to run their record to 2-1 on this eight-game home stand. Monta Ellis scored a game-high 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the field. Ellis sat out Saturday’s practice with a thigh contusion, but will be in the starting lineup. ... After Vince Carter dislocated his right pinkie finger against the Nuggets, Jae Crowder came off the bench and went 4 for 4 from 3-point range in the second period. ... The Mavs lost to Brooklyn 107-106 on Jan. 24, when relatively unknown Nets forward Mirza Teletovic scored a career-high 34 points. Overall, Teletovic was 12 of 18 from the field, including 7 of 11 from 3-point range. ... This is the Mavs’ final game this season against Eastern Conference team. Dallas is 20-9 against the East.
