Nuggets at Mavericks

7:30 p.m. Friday, American Airlines Center, Dallas

TV: FSSW

Radio: ESPN/103.3 FM, KFLC/1270 AM (Spanish)

Records: Nuggets 31-37; Mavs 41-28

About the Nuggets: Denver has been impressive lately with four wins in five games, including a 111-107 victory in Miami last Friday and a 110-100 win Monday against the LA Clippers. ... J.J. Hickson had 21 points and 11 rebounds off the bench against the Clippers. ... The Nuggets are fresh off defeating Detroit 118-109 on Wednesday behind 27 points, six rebounds and 17 assists from backup point guard Aaron Brooks. Starting point guard Ty Lawson sat out with a sinus infection, but is expected to play Friday. ... Lawson averages team highs in points (18.2) and assists (9.0), while Kenneth Faried averages 12.6 points and 7.9 rebounds. ... The Nuggets like to get out and run, but they also foul a lot. ... Denver is second in the NBA in rebounds (45.6 per game), 10th in scoring (103.8) and 28th in points allowed (105.6).

About the Mavs: Dallas followed Monday’s shaky five-point win over Boston with a discouraging 123-122 overtime loss to Minnesota on Wednesday. The Mavs exerted too much energy trying to play catch-up after falling behind by 22 points a mere 14 minutes into the game. Dirk Nowitzki missed an 18-footer at the buzzer that would have won it for the Mavs. ... The Mavs, 1-1 to begin a franchise-record eight-game homestand, host Brooklyn on Sunday. ... Denver and San Antonio are the only teams that are 3-0 against the Mavs this season. The Nuggets have beaten the Mavs twice in Denver — 102-100 on Nov. 23 and 115-110 on March 5. Denver also defeated the Mavs in Dallas 110-96 on Nov. 25. ... The Mavs are 1 1/2 games ahead of Phoenix for the final spot in the Western Conference playoff race. — Dwain Price
