Derek Holland said that he is tentatively scheduled to throw a bullpen session April 2 in Arlington as he continues to recover from January microfracture surgery on his left knee.

First up for the Texas Rangers’ left-hander Tuesday, though, was learning how to walk down stairs again.

“I know how to do it,” said Holland, who has returned to lifting weights to strengthen his legs and could begin running next week. The Rangers don’t expect him to be back until July.

Fellow lefty Matt Harrison could be ready to return to the Rangers’ rotation during their 10-game homestand in mid-April.

“That’s going to depend on a lot of things,” said Harrison, who was knocked off track early in camp with back stiffness.

He is scheduled to pitch three innings Sunday against San Diego, and then could remain at the Surprise Recreation Campus for minor-league games March 28 and April 2. Harrison would likely need two more starts to build to 100 pitches before the Rangers consider him for the rotation.
