Luxury car dealer Park Place Motorcars will build a Mercedes-Benz dealership along Interstate 20 in east Arlington, with an anticipated opening in summer 2015.

The dealership, Park Place Motorcars Arlington, will feature a two-story, 91,000-square-foot facility on 15.6 acres at 4201 Beltway Place, on the south side of I-20 between Collins Street and Matlock Road. Construction should begin in May.

“Arlington is a great market for expansion of our brand and the Mercedes-Benz product line,” said Ken Schnitzer, chairman of Park Place Dealerships. “There is a strong demand for Mercedes-Benz, which saw sales increases of more than 10 percent in 2013. We expect the demand to continue as Mercedes-Benz offers new vehicles such as the 2015 GLA, S-Class coupe and the C-Class with its abundance of technological advancements that will attract the entry-level driver.”

Park Place bought the land in August, and this will be its fourth Mercedes-Benz dealership in the Metroplex. The company, which will open a Maserati showroom in southwest Fort Worth in May, also sells Mercedes-Benz from showrooms in Fort Worth, Dallas and Grapevine.

Park Place also sells Lexus, Bentley, Jaguar, Volvo, McLaren, Lotus, Rolls-Royce and Porsche. It has 16 dealerships in Texas and Las Vegas.

The Arlington location will feature a showroom that can accommodate up to 16 vehicles, and the new car delivery area will be outfitted to handle four vehicles at a time, Park Place said. The shop will have 35 service bays and 10 make-ready bays.

It will also handle sales and service for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans, Park Place said.

The company opened a new Lexus store in Plano last year and will open its third body shop, Park Place BodyWerks, in Fort Worth this summer.

Schnitzer founded Park Place Dealerships in 1987 with a Mercedes-Benz dealership on Oak Lawn Avenue in Dallas.
