Timberwolves at Mavericks

7:30 p.m. Wednesday, American Airlines Center, Dallas

TV: FSSW  Radio: ESPN/103.3 FM, KFLC/1270 AM (Spanish)

Records: Timberwolves 33-32; Mavs 41-27

About the Timberwolves: Still in the playoff race, Minnesota has won six of its last nine games. ... When the dust settles, the T’wolves could be one of two teams with a winning record in the West that don’t make the playoffs. That could be hard to swallow because two teams with a losing record in the East might advance to the playoffs. ... Kevin Martin scored 31 points and Kevin Love added 26 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday’s 104-102 victory over Sacramento. ... Making his case as the game’s best power forward, Love is fourth in the NBA in scoring (26.4 ppg) and second in rebounding (12.9 rpg). ... Martin has given Minnesota some nice perimeter scoring and averages 19.5 points, and the athletic Corey Brewer is averaging 11.7 points. ... Center Nikola Pekovic, who did not play Sunday against the Kings, is listed as day-to-day with bursitis in his right ankle.

About the Mavs: The franchise-record eight-game homestand started off nicely on Monday when the Mavs eked out a 94-89 victory over the Boston Celtics. Dirk Nowitzki had 19 points and six rebounds. ... With a victory Wednesday, the Mavs would pass their win total last season when they finished 41-41. ... Dallas has won five of its last six games and is 14 games over .500 for the first time this season and for the first time since it finished the 2010-11 championship season at 57-25. ... The Mavs must improve on the boards after being outrebounded 57-36 by the Celtics, including 21-6 on offense. ... The Mavs are trying to avoid losing the season series to the Timberwolves, who won in Minnesota 116-108 on Nov. 8 and in Dallas 112-106 on Nov. 30. But the Mavs won 100-98 in Minnesota on Dec. 30 as Shawn Marion converted 14 of 19 shots and scored a season-high 32 points in 32 minutes.  — Dwain Price
