The Fort Worth Zoo attracts about 1 million people a year, and about 100,000 of them are expected this week alone during spring break.Traffic to and from the zoo, especially on Wednesday, when admission is half-price, can be a nightmare. Because of that and the continuing work on the Chisholm Trail Parkway, visitors are being urged to use routes other than the most popular Interstate 30 expressway. Perhaps an even better way to avoid the traffic and parking hassles is to abandon the automobile and use public transit. The T will again offer its Safari Shuttle service through Sunday, taking passengers from the Intermodal Transportation Center downtown to Colonial Parkway near the zoo’s main entrance. Those coming from Dallas or Arlington/Northeast Tarrant County may want to take the Trinity Railway Express to the ITC and catch the shuttle, which will board adjacent to the TRE platform. A zoo outing this week will require more planning and, if you’re driving, a lot more patience.
