In response to Mike Norman’s column (See: “‘Kinder and gentler’ GOP has gone from Texas”), I wonder which of the following Texans would prefer:

1. Focus education reform on school choice, parental rights and curriculum oversight by the State Board of Education, or implementation of the core curriculum by the federal government?

2. Protect/expand rights of gun owners, or more gun control by the federal government?

3. Cut property taxes, business taxes and wasteful government spending, or increase taxes, the size of government and not worry about waste?

John McCain and Mitt Romney tried the “kinder and gentler” approach, and I don’t recall calling either of them president.

I would prefer that approach, but that does not seem to win elections in the current environment.

I believe my fellow Texans appreciate those who tell us what they are going to do before they’re elected and do exactly what they said they would do.
