A motorcyclist who led Haltom City police on a brief chase Sunday night before he crashed his vehicle faces charges of evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Haltom City police said Monday.The motorcyclist and a female passenger were injured when he lost control of the motorcycle on a slight curve in Fort Worth, police said. The two ended up in a grassy median and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Their conditions on Monday were unavailable.The motorcycle had been reported stolen out of Fort Worth, Haltom City police Sgt. Eric Peters said.The motorcyclist and passenger were not identified.The chase took place shortly after 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Northern Cross Boulevard near Interstate 35W in Fort Worth.A Haltom City officer first observed the motorcyclist stopped, northbound on Beach Street and Mecham Boulevard in Haltom City.“The officer came to a stop there as well and noticed black tape over one of the digits on the tags,” Peters said Monday. “He ran the tags and it turned up that it was stolen.”The officer attempted to stop the motorcyclist, but he sped away north on Beach Street and then turned left on Northern Cross Boulevard in Fort Worth, police said.The chase ended five minutes later when the motorcyclist crashed.Arrest warrants are expected to be issued against the motorcyclist, Peters said Monday.Charges also could be filed against the passenger, police said.
