Boys soccer

The Arlington school district boys programs continued to dominate the standings, with four teams in line for the four playoff spots out of District 3-5A entering spring break.

Only Bowie, which has struggled with just one district win, has little hope of a postseason run. Martin leads the district but is followed closely by Sam Houston and Arlington, while Lamar has a sizable lead over fifth-place Fort Worth Paschal.

A major clash will come when district play resumes next week, as Martin will host Sam Houston at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Meanwhile, Arlington has a fairly clear path to the playoffs in its last two games, facing Bowie next Tuesday and North Crowley on March 21.

Girls soccer

Three Arlington girls squads are vying for playoff berths as the regular season draws to a close. Martin tops the standings, with Arlington trailing just a point behind and Lamar also in the mix and vying with Paschal for the third seed.

The Lady Warriors have cruised in their 3-5A schedule, winning every game and only four times winning by just a one-goal margin. All teams will be on spring break this week before playing their final two games.

Softball

In the early going in the softball district schedule, Martin and Lamar are vying for the district lead.

The teams square off over spring break with a Tuesday day game at Workman Field. When classes resume, Martin faces Sam Houston in a home game at the same site on March 18, while Lamar is scheduled to play home to Weatherford the same day.

Baseball

District play is just underway in baseball, with Martin the only team to collect a victory in its district opener, a 14-3 blowout over Arlington on March 4 played before the Warriors entered the Lufkin tournament.

On Friday, Martin is schedule to host Paschal, Sam Houston hosts Lamar and Arlington hosts Weatherford; all games are at 7 p.m.

Seguin visits Lancaster for a noon game the same day.
