A 20-year-old Hurst man who was headed to his National Guard duties in Lewisville died Sunday morning from injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle crash at a Euless intersection, authorities said.

The victim was identified as Brandon Bennett, who died at 7 a.m. Sunday at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford in Bedford, according to the medical examiner’s website.

A 29-year-old woman who was the driver of the other vehicle was taken into custody by Euless police after being treated and released from Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.

Euless police identified her as Beth Branum, 29, of Granbury. She remained in the Euless Jail on Monday in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Branum faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter, Euless police said.

Fire crews and patrol officers were dispatched to the major accident shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Westpark Way and 2300 block of West Pipeline Road in Euless.

Bennett who had just left his home in Hurst was driving northbound on Westpark Way when his Honda was hit by a car driven by Branum, police said. Branum was driving eastbound on W. Pipeline Road when she drove through the intersection and hit Bennett’s car, police said.

Authorities believe Branum was under the influence of intoxicants, Euless police said Monday.

A search warrant was obtained for her blood and results are pending, police said.
