SURPRISE, Ariz. — Matt Harrison threw a 35-40 pitch live batting practice today and is very encouraged with the results. He threw from the stretch and the windup, threw all of his pitches and faced hitters for the first time in almost seven months.“I’ve been ready since 7:15 a.m.,” Harrison said. “It’s nice to face hitters again. It was fun.”Next for Harrison is a touch-and-feel bullpen session and then pitching in a ‘B’ game Tuesday against the Royals. In other injury news:• LHP Derek Holland, rehabbing from microfracture surgery on his left knee, had an MRI on Thursday and is expected to report to camp on Saturday.• OF Alex Rios remains day to day with discomfort in his right intercostal.• OF Engel Beltre remains sidelined with shin splints. Team physician Keith Meister will evaluate Beltre today to make sure the shin splints are not anything more severe. This is an important spring for Beltre, as he is out of options and will need to make the Opening Day roster to stay on the team.
