The Greater Keller Chamber of Commerce has a new president who said he is ready to switch how the organization does business.Rudy Martinez has been with the chamber for more than 2 years as an ambassador and previously worked in the real estate business. He fulfills the new presidential role after Susanne Johnson resigned from the position after nine years.“Where I came from I always believed in what chambers stood for,” Martinez said. “Now is the time where we really need to switch how chambers do business and be more vocal in the community.”Martinez has been a Keller resident for the past three years and said he came to the city to settle after seeing how unique the community is.He said one of his biggest goals is to work with the city and smaller businesses to further growth within the city.Keller Mayor Pat McGrail said he has been working with Martinez on the chamber’s new direction and the two have been talking about the partnership between the chamber and the city.“He brings a good energy to the Chamber,” McGrail said. “He’s jumping right in and getting involved. He’s the kind of guy who is very involved in the chamber and communities, so if you’re involved at all in the city you can’t help but know him.”When it comes to “keeping it in Keller,” a push for Keller citizens to shop and dine locally, Martinez said a changed focus on the chamber’s goals will encourage more local growth.“With any organization, you’re going to get what you put into it,” Martinez said.
